For over 25 years, Clearwater Sports has been Central Vermont’s source for whitewater instruction. Few things compare to the thrill of whitewater kayaking and our graduates have continued on to win awards in the Junior World Freestyle Championships and the Junior Olympics. Dates can be changed to fit your busy summer schedule.

Multiple Day Camps

Mad Yaker’s 3 Day Whitewater Camp

This three day, level 1 introduction to whitewater kayaking requires no prior experience and is a great first experience in whitewater boating. Our students progress incrementally from flatwater to gentle moving water to a great whitewater run on the last day. The level 2 camp continues to develop and refine such skills as eddy turns, peel-outs, river reading and will introduce the Eskimo roll. Clearwater Sports supplies all the necessary equipment and transportation.

Mad Yaker’s Whitewater Camp 5 days and 4 nights

Our five day overnight instructional camps will teach your son or daughter the skills they need to begin their journey through a lifetime of whitewater exploration. These overnight whitewater camps take us to the waters of Vermont and New Hampshire where we will learn river safety, eddy turns and peel-outs, ferries and the Eskimo roll. Our level 1 camp requires no previous paddling experience. Our level 2 camp is for those who have completed a level 1 or comparable course and are looking for more adventure. All boating equipment, camping fees, and meals are included.

Costs: Level One - $695 | Level Two - $725

Single Day Camps

Mad Yaker’s Kids Kayak Camp
Offered Every Wednesday: June 25 - August 20

This program is an introduction to flatwater kayaking and will teach children balance, boating safety, paddle strokes, and navigational skills while developing their confidence on the water. Swimming, group games, and hiking round out this very popular day camp. Equipment and transportation included.

Time: 10 am to 4 pm every Wednesday
Ages: 7-12
Cost: $55 per session

Introduction to River Kayaking

Offered on the following Fridays — June 20th - July 11th, July 25th - August 8th, 22nd.

This one-day camp will introduce the fun andexcitement of paddling a recreational kayak while exploring the beauty of a Vermont river. This program will continue to develop paddling skills needed to navigate safely down a moving river with both quick water and easy rapids. Such skills as reading the river, wet exits and more advanced paddle strokes will be combined with a day full of adventure.

Ages: 10- 15
Cost: $75 per session

Introduction to Whitewater

Offered on the following Fridays — June 27th - July 18th - August 15th.

This one-day workshop is designed to allow your childto experience what whitewater kayaking is all about in an easy and safe introductory course. We will use whitewater boats and touch upon such skills as the wet exit, reading the river, basic paddling skills and safety techniques. This is a great way to experience the fun and thrill of kayaking in a short, informal setting.

Ages: 10-16
Cost: $85 per session

Family Adventures

Guided River Trips
Bring the family for our guided tour down the Winooski or the Mad River and enjoy the beauty of Vermont’s natural landscape. Relax and let our experienced guides give you the instruction you need and then observe the scenery and wildlife as you wind your way down the river. The price includes your boat rental, all necessary equipment, transportation and guide service. All you need to do is pack a lunch and appropriate clothing. We do all the rest.

Guided tours take place every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Cost: $80 per person
