Introduction to Backcountry Skiing

This two hour introductory clinic will touch upon the basic skills necessary to start exploring the backwoods of Vermont on skis. The emphasis is on fun and will give the beginner a good background on all aspects of off trail skiing including equipment, safety and basic maneuvers. Come and join us in a beautiful setting away from the crowds and discover the joy of backcountry skiing.

Backcountry Skiing Skills

Join Clearwater Sports for an adventurous ski workshop in the solitude of the backwoods of Vermont. This five hour program teaches the beginner or intermediate backcountry skier all of the techniques necessary to become a safe off trail skier. The first basic skill to be taught will be the kick and glide technique. Once the kick and glide is mastered on the flats, the group will start to take their skills into the backcountry. In the afternoon, groups will learn the basics of the telemark turn, perhaps the most important tool in the backcountry skiers bag. It is a day full of fun and learning and will help build your skills and confidence to head into the mountains.
